Norconsult worked on Assignment II and III of the feasibility studies for the Energy Access Scale-up Program in Kenya.

Client: Kenya Power and Lighting Company Ltd

Besides technical, economic and environmental studies the assignment involved the preparation of technical specifications and tender documents for the various transmission and substation projects identified.

In total, the project comprised of thirteen 132 kV transmission lines, totalling 1,350 km and eighteen 132/33 kV substations extending from Lake Victoria in the west towards Mombasa and the Indian Ocean. Of this, Norconsult was responsible for two thirds, while Snowy Mountains Engineering Corp. of Australia was the consultant for the remaining third.

The studies, which were part of the Kenya energy sector recovery program, were financed by the World Bank.
