Caia – Nacala Transmission Project

The objective of the project is to identify the least-cost development option for the transmission system from Caia to Nampula and Nacala with a total line length of 750 km, and to elaborate a Bankable Feasibility Report for the reinforcement of the existing 220 kV system from Caia to Nampula and for the extension of this system up to Nacala.

Once implemented, the new transmission facilities are expected to support the development of the power sector in the Northern Region of Mozambique on medium to long term. To achieve the objectives of the study and meet the demand requirements the transmission system will be at 400 kV and 220 kV.
