Daniel Simmonds appointed Managing Director in Norconsult New Zealand
04. April 2017
Simmonds started his assignment on 3 April, 2017, and has succeeded Graeme Boyd, a founding member of Norconsult New Zealand who is stepping aside as Managing Director.
Boyd will focus on providing technical leadership to hydropower and dams projects for Norconsult, as well as driving growth in the New Zealand market. He will continue as a Director and Board member of Norconsult New Zealand.
Simmonds is well known to Norconsult, having spent the last 10 years in South America and South East Asia leading the development of new power plants for SN Power, an independent power producer from Norway, and their partners.
"I am very excited to join Norconsult and am grateful to be part of a firm that is able to deliver value through innovation and proven experience in the power sector. Norconsult New Zealand will be a trusted partner for the development of hydropower and water infrastructure both within New Zealand and offshore, and will play a significant role in Norconsult's expansion into and growth of the Asia Pacific market", says Simmonds.
Simmonds has 25 years of experience in the power sector, mainly in South East Asia, South America and New Zealand, and comes with significant knowledge in developing and delivering power plants for independent power producers. He is a graduate of Auckland University and member of IPENZ, registered International Professional Engineer and Chartered Engineer.
Jørn Tyrdal, SVP Asia Pacific Region, is very satisfied that Simmonds has accepted this position.
"He has great knowledge about the market, and Norconsult has known him for many years. His extensive network throughout Asia and his ability to see through the eyes of the client make him the ideal person to lead Norconsult New Zealand through to the next stage of growth. Thanks also to Graeme Boyd who has been heading the company during the first months after the establishment in New Zealand in October last year".
