Concept location study for LNG Terminal in Gibraltar

Norconsult has performed a concept location study for a possible LNG receiving terminal in Gibraltar. The client World Fuel Services (WFS) is a global American (Fortune 500) fuel supplier.

The receiving terminal should deliver gas to a new power plant to be located in Gibraltar. The terminal concept should be based on a storage capacity of 12,000 m3 in a flat bottom full containment LNG tank with regasification capacity of 21,000 Nm3/hour supplying a 85 MW power plant. Optional the terminal should be prepared for CNG loading as well as LNG bunkering of to the maritime sector.

Norconsult services included:

  • Project Management
  • Authority permit support
  • Overall technical design with cost estimate and schedule
  • Site selection

Following up of DNV GL risk assessment study (QRA) based on a safety evaluation, technical design and cost assessment; the location next to the power plant was chosen.

The study was completed and delivered in April 2015 with follow up support to end September 2015.
