Four months after Norconsult opens its South Africa office in Johannesburg, the company further enhances its presence in the region. The acquisition of the consultancy Iyanda Power Technologies, results in an even stronger position for Norconsult in the Southern part of Africa.
As of March 1st 2011, Iyanda Power Technologies became a majority owned subsidiary of Norconsult, named Norconsult Iyanda (Pty) Ltd.
Iyanda Power Technologies is a South African based, professional service enterprise providing expertise in planning, design, commissioning, testing and project management for utility and industrial electrical engineering projects.
The company’s staff consists of about 30 highly trained people, including engineers, technicians, project managers, CAD operators and clerks of work. The employees have expertise with PSS/E, PSAPAC, DIgSILENT, Reticmaster, MATLAB and CYME simulation software.
Norconsult in Africa primarily provides services to the energy sector and energy users, supporting development of environmentally sound, secure and sustainable solutions for Africa’s economy. The services provided in the African region entail Hydropower & Renewable Energy Development, Transmission & Distribution System & Solutions and Energy Sector Management Consulting.
The Africa operations include subsidiaries in South Africa, Mozambique and Botswana with a local resource base of approximately 60 employees. The regional resources base is expected to grow to about 100 professionals by end of 2011.
The new offices established as a result of the acquisition, are located in Roodepoort - Gauteng and East London.
